【题记】罗伯特·彭斯（Robert Burns，1759—1796年）是苏格兰有史以来最杰出的农民诗人。在英国文学史上占有特殊重要的地位。他的诗歌歌颂了故国家乡的秀美，抒写了劳动者纯朴的友谊和爱情。《A red red rose》是其爱情诗的代表作，全诗采用了民谣诗节, 用苏格兰方言写成。一共四节，每节四行，前两个诗节采用了二、四行押韵的方法, 而三、四诗节则采用了隔行押韵的方式, 固定的韵律使得诗行朗朗上口，迸发出一种和谐的音乐之美。译诗亦分为四节。每节不同韵。

吾爱恰如玫瑰红，

新绽蓓蕾六月风。

轻弹曼妙曲玲珑。

窈窕动人好姑娘，

痴缠倾慕爱深藏。

天荒地老情永在，

沧海干涸意未央。

沧海干涸志不颓，

烈日溶岩化作灰。

天荒地老吾之爱，

生命流沙九死回。

凄凄道别吾独痴，

珍重天涯隔有期。

定将早归吾之爱，

关山万里亦不辞！
